Facility and impeccable instrumental technique are not the end goal, but rather the foundation of a broader musical language that allows for discovery, expression, and dialogue with both the wider musical community and with ourselves.
As an educator, Chetrick works with each student’s unique learning background, building foundational skills in instrumental technique, tone production, rhythmic understanding, and aural development. She views practice and learning as lifelong, evolving processes.
Her students have gone on to perform in jazz ensembles and area orchestras, as well as participate in concerto competitions and solo recitals in New York City and Connecticut.
Her teaching philosophy centers on accessibility and equity in music education as part of student development at all ages.
